Daily Rhythm and Learning Approach

A Flexible Daily Rhythm: Unlike traditional schools with rigid schedules, our daily rhythm is designed to flow naturally with the students' needs and interests. This approach fosters a relaxed and engaging atmosphere where students can explore, discover, and immerse themselves in their learning experiences.

Democratic Education: Our democratic education model ensures that students have a voice in their learning process. They actively participate in decision-making, from setting their learning goals to choosing their projects and activities. This empowers students to take ownership of their education and develop critical thinking and leadership skills.

Community Meetings: At Thrive Learning Centre, community meetings are an integral part of our democratic education model. These gatherings provide a platform for students, facilitators, and staff to come together, share their thoughts, and collaboratively make decisions about school life. During community meetings, every member has an equal voice, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect. Community meetings are used to discuss important issues, resolve conflicts, and celebrate achievements in a respectful and supportive environment. Each participant has the opportunity to speak and be heard, ensuring that all perspectives are valued. These practices not only build a strong, cohesive community but also teach essential skills such as active listening, empathy, and cooperative problem-solving. Each day at Thrive Learning includes at least two community meetings - one at daily opening and one at daily closing.

 

Personalized Learning Experience

Individual Learning Plans: Every student at Thrive Learning Centre develops an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) in collaboration with their learning facilitator and parent. These plans are tailored to each student’s unique interests, strengths, and areas for growth, providing a personalized roadmap for their educational journey.

Independent and Group Learning: Students engage in a balanced mix of independent study, small group collaborations, and guided sessions with their learning facilitator. This diverse approach allows them to pursue their passions, work at their own pace, and benefit from peer interactions and mentorship.

Supportive and Engaging Environment

Learning Facilitators: Our learning facilitator is dedicated to supporting each student’s development. She acts as a mentor and guide, helping students navigate their ILPs, find resources, and overcome challenges. The facilitator provides a supportive presence that encourages curiosity and a love for learning.

Collaborative Community: Thrive Learning Centre fosters a strong sense of community where students, facilitators, and parents work together to create a nurturing and inclusive environment. Regular community meetings, collaborative projects, and group activities help build relationships and a shared sense of purpose.

Enriching Experiences

Hands-On Projects and Activities: Our students have the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on projects and activities that spark creativity and innovation. From science experiments to artistic endeavors, these experiences make learning exciting and meaningful.
